Botham's Fizzy Orange Cake

You will need-

  • Measuring Jug or cup
  • 2 eggs
  • 275g(2 cups) plain (all purpose) flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 175g (1 cup) sugar
  • 125ml (1/2 cup) cooking oil
  • 150ml (2/3 cup) fizzy orange (e.g. Tango, Fanta)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 Tablespoons of icing (confectioner's) sugar
  • 1 Adult on call
  • 1 swissroll tin (a low sided baking tin).

     get an adult

     set the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6

    Grease the tin, using a little margarine or butter.

    Mixing BowlPut all ingredients, except the icing sugar, into a large mixing bowl. Stand the bowl on a damp cloth to stop it slipping.

    Beat the mixture together using a wooden spoon until there are no lumps left.

    Pour the mixture into the greased tin and spread it out evenly.

     Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.

     Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Then sieve the icing sugar over the cake and then cut into slices.
