We are famous for Whitby Lemon Buns, but what makes them special?

Whitby Lemon Buns

Baked daily (Mon-Sat) in our Whitby bakehouse, these sweet white buns are incredibly light & soft. They are lightly fruited with plump sultanas which deliver just the right balance of sweetness & sharpness. Finally, they are generously topped with a zesty white lemon icing - made to a well-guarded secret family recipe - which is hand-piped with admirable speed & accuracy in our Fancy Room; the piping bag 'lemon bun icing flick' is a definite art!

Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside!

There's something special about eating a Whitby Lemon Bun beside the sea, with the salty breeze in your hair & seagulls calling. In fact, if you're enjoying them on Whitby's West Cliff, try eating them the 'Whitby way' by tearing the bun in half & turning the icing inwards to create a Lemon Bun sandwich. Established by Whitby folk, this local tip keeps stickiness off your fingers & chin, and icing out of your hair. But don't worry, you can eat them any way you choose & it'll be reet!

Whitby Abbey and St Mary's Church stands proud on East Cliff in the background.
